Job Title: Software Engineer – WMS (Warehouse Management Systems)
Duration: 6-12 Months
Location: UK-wide (mix of remote work and site-based integration)
Rate: Competitive daily rate (DOE)
About the Role
We are seeking experienced Software Engineers with strong backgrounds in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) for ongoing projects across the UK. You’ll be working closely with automation providers, integrators and end clients to deliver scalable WMS solutions as part of high-throughput automated warehouse rollouts.
This role is ideal for software professionals who understand the operational and technical aspects of warehouse environments and have hands-on experience integrating software with WCS, ERP and automation platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, development, and configuration of WMS solutions
- Integration of WMS with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and WCS/automation layers
- Customization of workflows to meet site-specific warehouse operations
- Database development, reporting, and query optimization
- Supporting go-live activities, testing (UAT/SIT), and post-deployment support
- Collaborating with business analysts, control engineers, and project managers
- Troubleshooting and resolving WMS-related issues on live or commissioning sites
- Creating and maintaining technical documentation and user guides
Key Skills & Experience
- Strong experience with WMS platforms such as Manhattan, Blue Yonder (JDA), SAP EWM, Infor, Oracle, or bespoke systems
- Solid programming and scripting skills (e.g., Java, C#, SQL, Python, or similar)
- Experience with REST/SOAP APIs, data integration, and middleware tools
- Understanding of warehouse operations, stock control, and order fulfilment logic
- Familiarity with integration to automation equipment, WCS, and MES
- Ability to interpret functional specifications and translate them into technical solutions
- Comfortable working independently and collaborating with cross-functional teams
- Willingness to travel to client sites for integration, testing, and support
Desirable Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies and version control tools (Git, Jira, etc.)
- Experience working with automated warehouse systems (conveyors, sorters, robotics)
- Knowledge of SQL Server, Oracle DB, or PostgreSQL
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and DevOps pipelines (CI/CD)
